Gastric Balloon: A Commonly Used Procedure for Obesity Treatment

Gastric balloon is one of the frequently used procedures in the treatment of obesity. Obesity is a condition that has been increasingly causing serious health problems in recent years. However, alternative treatments for obesity are now being performed through different methods, and gastric balloon is one of them. It is not a surgical procedure per se.

Through an endoscopic method, a balloon is placed inside the stomach and inflated. This creates a constant feeling of fullness in the stomach, leading to weight loss in the patient.

However, it is recommended to be placed in individuals who have already lost a certain amount of weight in cases of severe obesity. It stays in the stomach for an average of 6 months and is then removed.
